staff were efficient and friendly arrival and checkout well organised. rooms warme and comfortable
The atmosphere and comfort was excellent. Very quiet, a homey feeling.
Since there is only one flight out from Longyearbyen every day, the check-out on the day of departure should be more flexible, so that it could be postponed until 1 p.m.
Waffle tea, comfy beds, all amenities, Internet Access and WiFI, Luxurious breakfast, view, fox, elevator, lounge room comfort
Man at front desk told us to change money at Post Office but P.O. told us they did not change money. The bank told us they only change money one day a week. Would be nice for staff to know this
Modern, clean, soundproof and comfortable. Very helpful and friendly staff
The view of the glaciers from the room window. The cozy setting--inside and out.
Too far from the shops of Longyearbryn
Clean and comfortable with a good restaurant and friendly staff. Particuarly liked the waffles in the afternoon.
Very comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere and very helpful staff.
The hotel is rather charming, and the personnel is very competent, helpful, and welcoming. Within the options available in Longyerbyen, this is a very good choice. The restaurant/breakfast room is looking over the harbour. It takes about 10min to walk downhill into the center. The breakfast is very good. There's also a sauna and a gym available to the guests.
Although the service at the hotel restaurant is impeccable, I think meals are overpriced for the quality and quantity served. A good alternative is to just take a nice little walk and eat at Kroa, which has a large range of delicious food and drinks at a reasonable price and in a very cosy atmosphere.
The oldest one in LYbyen, very, very, very cosy and homelike. Absolutely rich and delicious breakfasts. Tea/coffee avaiable free 24 H. Great value - afternoon norge vaffles from 16-18 with fireplace every day, avaiable free. Much lovely places for romantic dialogues. Fitness, bodybuilding and sauna avaiable free every evening. Welcoming staff. If You love Arctics, You must go to Spicbergen, and this Hotel is the best possible choise. The best time April, but other months You will find adventures and much thinks to do, too.
Staff friendliness; comfort of public areas
Little if any vegetarian options
The hotel was perfectly clean. The staff was absolutely cheerful and friendly ... they were ready to go out of their way to make any arrangements for us. One Hungarian girl that worked at the reception, Laura, was such a kind, helpful, and special soul that our group just wanted to kidnap her :-)
For me the mattress was a bit too soft. But when I travelled down to Tromso, and stayed in the Radisson Blu, the mattress was similar. Thus, I think it is a Norwegian peculiarity. But all in all I was very pleased with my stay at Spitsbergen Hotel and would highly recommend the hotel to any traveller heading to the arctic.
Very nice staff, good clean room. Dinner in the retaurant was excellent and the wine matching menu was superb. Availability of free coffee in the comfortable lounge made waiting around more pleasant.
The location in the upper part of the Longyearbyen valley was quiet, with views to the surrounding hills. The airport bus drops off and picks up at the hotel (otherwise there is no public transport and it is 15-20 minutes walk down to the town, so you need to be fairly fit or be prepared to spend on taxis). The hotel has historical links with the former mining operations, and there are several comfortable old-style lounges with interesting old photographs and maps. Free internet station. Dinner in the restaurant is pricey (but no more than elsewhere in the town), you pay for the number of courses you have. Quality and presentation of the food is excellent. So too is the buffet breakfast.
A.Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and beautiful open spaces for relaxing. Great view and interstitial g historical photos throughout.
It is on the edge of town and uphill.... But the restaurant is great although. A little expensive like most of Norway.
From arrival to departure the staff were friendly and helpful, without being over attentive. The food was superb, breakfast being more than sufficient for our arctic trips! The room and communal facilites were both comfortable and not crowded. Being not quite in the centre of town meant that you could enjoy a short walk to and from the main street. In short the ideal location in Longyearbyen and we would certainly stay again.
